The Art of Giving What You Don’t Have

CPP'd on December 16th, 2007

via The Urban Monk

What if we were to discover something very strange - what if we discovered that all our giving, our kindness and charity, had come from a place of lack and misunderstanding?

The time of giving and love is upon us, and it’s natural for the world to be buzzing about the beauty of giving. But this post is a little different. It’s about giving, yes, but not just the common misunderstanding.

What do I mean? For many, Christmas is about stress, fatigue, finding the right presents, endless parties and functions. For others, Christmas is loneliness, made worse by the fact that others are celebrating.

And many people yell back - “This is not the true spirit of Christmas! Christmas is about giving, about love!”

And what is the true spirit of giving? I was humbled to find out that even my definition of giving was wrong…

Crowd Shows Spontaneous Support for Disabled Man During National Anthem

CPP'd on December 13th, 2007

When a disabled man giggled while singing the US National Anthem, this is what the crowd did to support him…

We are capable of so much love and empathy when we’re united. Imagine if everyone lived like this everyday…

Passion Is Breathing (Video)

CPP'd on December 13th, 2007

This video was produced months ago for a competition. Christine lead the filming/directing and my friend Shawn took the lead on editing.

I’m shy about sharing this, but I’m going to make it public again, because it’s relevant to the pre-treatment that I wrote - if you read that.

Why am I shy?

Well, for one, it’s evident as you watch it that there is, along with the silly, playful guy I am, a very serious side to me. You can see the energetic remnants of my resistance to life on this planet and what it has taken me to get into a position in life to just be free to play and live life on my terms.

I can hear someone say, “Oh, poor baby, you had to work jobs you didn’t like. Try doing that for forty years like I did. That’s called life.”

Well, hold on…

How I Made $100,000 by Spending 25 Minutes and $0 on Marketing

CPP'd on December 11th, 2007

If I were to come across this title, I would be thinking “yeah right.” But I assure you that this is true and the way it was done was not revolutionary or difficult in the least.

What got me thinking about this post was a comment by Mark (Wizzer) from 6M Profit Method on my last post titled “My BS Revealed: Time Management Tricks for The Overachiever”. Wizzer says:

I think the BIGGEST mistake far too many people make is not seeing things through to the conclusion. I’ve done it myself this week - created a site, found the content, amended a header etc but something real important stopped my from ftping it and promoting. That real important thing was I didn’t like some of my copy. As you say Bullsh** - it needs to go up NOW and the changes made later. Thanks for the kick up the ****.

The reason this comment got me thinking was because there was one very critical thing that I did to promote my copywriting business that I procrastinated about due to of some sort of fear that I was harboring. But once I pulled the trigger, I instantly generated a steady stream of income for 1.5 years. That thing cost me 15 minutes of time and a grand total of $0.

When I first went into business for myself as a freelance writer, I did not have the confidence that I have today. Like Mark, because I didn’t feel like I was “ready” I was hesitant to promote myself and was limiting my own potential…

The Good News Network

CPP'd on December 10th, 2007

The Good News NetworkI rarely watch television anymore. Aside from a few favorite sitcoms, The Science Channel, National Geographic TV and sports, I try and stay as far away as I can from watching TV, especially the NEWS.

The news is just loaded with depressing, sad and uninspiring stuff. The last thing I need is to fill my mind with what seems to be a non-stop cycle of violence, crime, child abuse, disaster and mayhem.

Now, I certainly liked to be informed and up-to-date, but do I really need to absorb this kind of bad news on a daily basis?

Certainly not, and neither should you…

According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day! That’s 28 hours a week or 2 months of non-stop TV each year! Over the span of a lifetime, that equates to more than 10 years spent glued to the TV (and it’s not that much better in some other countries as well)!

Wow! That’s a lot of negative programming, if you ask me.

And the newspapers aren’t much better either. They’re loaded with the same stories of doom and gloom as TV news.

But there is a way to fight back…

Yoko Ono Lennon: Think Peace, Act Peace, Spread Peace

CPP'd on December 10th, 2007

Published yesterday on ImaginePeace.com

December 8, 2007

I miss you, John. 27 years later, I still wish I could turn back the clock to the Summer of 1980. I remember everything - sharing our morning coffee, walking in the park together on a beautiful day, and seeing your hand stretched to mine - holding it, reassuring me that I shouldn’t worry about anything because our life was good.

I had no idea that life was about to teach me the toughest lesson of all. I learned the intense pain of losing a loved one suddenly, without warning, and without having the time for a final hug and the chance to say, “I love you,” for the last time. The pain and shock of that sudden loss is with me every moment of every day. When I touched John’s side of our bed on the night of December 8th, 1980, I realized that it was still warm. That moment has haunted me for the past 27 years - and will stay with me forever.

Even harder for me is watching what was taken away from our beautiful boy, Sean.

He lives in silent anger over not having his Dad, whom he loved so much, around to share his life with. I know we are not alone. Our pain is one shared by many other families who are suffering as the victims of senseless violence. This pain has to stop…

Together We Can Change The World

CPP'd on December 9th, 2007

Good morning everyone! What a beautiful morning it is. Those of you who regularly read my blog know that I love and adore this time of year. As the song says, “It’s More Than A Feeling.”

It’s the time of year when people will smile more readily at strangers. Children are happy and excited, and there is just an aura of magic in the air.

And yes, it’s true that there are people out there in the world who don’t have it as good as us. No matter what level of income you are at, there is probably someone who would think you “have it good”.

Can we make a difference? Yes, we can! Part of today’s Daily Inspiration post is going to sound like a commercial. I know that, but I feel this is worthwhile and important. I have found a way to make a difference by doing something I already do. And that’s shopping. We all have to buy things, it’s a necessity. I make a difference by doing my shopping at My Power Mall…
