Set in Motion a Desired Future
CPP'd on January 26th, 2008Beliefs are formed and adopted by recognizing patterns through a series of events, even if the events have nothing to do with our own personal experience. Why is this important? Everything we experience in our lives is centered on our beliefs about life.
All beliefs effect experience, yet not all beliefs are part of our reality. There are main beliefs and core beliefs. Main beliefs are the beliefs we have about life that match our reality. These are the beliefs that are developed through observing our everyday life and determining that life is this way because we perceive it to be. Having a core belief means believing in something even though we do not experience it as reality in our everyday lives.
You might say main beliefs are the strongest since they are the beliefs that effect our lives on a continuous basis, but core beliefs are strong too since you can have a core belief all your life and never experience it as reality because you have too many main beliefs blocking your core belief.
For example, one of my core beliefs is that anyone can make a living doing what they passionately love, yet I did not always experience this as my reality because I was perceiving/ experiencing life with main limiting beliefs, I did not understand the relationship between consciousness verse reality, and I did not live my passion as a career from moment to moment…

Ego as Spiritual Ally
CPP'd on January 18th, 2008A common “suggestion/implied obligation” encountered in one’s spiritual study is to “overcome the ego.” The idea seems to be that one should subdue, train, or even eliminate the ego. As a tool to avoid misidentifying myself as only ego, it has often been suggested to me to consider “the watcher” that remains outside the psychodrama of any moment of my mind or life—a marker to bring my awareness to the true, higher self.
I, however, would suggest that as long as there is a “watcher,” there is ego. Coming to awareness of the watcher merely brings my attention from one level of ego to another. Perhaps the nature of this next level of ego is something the (egoic) mind would consider less objectionable, but it is still ego. Does the Tao ‘watch’ the unfolding of its infinite manifestations? Does it care? Caring and watching (more “considering what we see”, in this context) is an anthropomorphic—human-like—characteristic. ‘Human’ is by definition ‘self-aware.’ Self-awareness is interdependent with—the soil of—ego.
I am by no means in disagreement with this long-established practice—focusing on “who is watching”—to pull oneself from the mire of immediate obsession. Nor do I question the benefit of this method. I have already suggested that we might better define where our attention has arrived when considering this watcher, and I would also suggest we reconsider our intention of subduing, training, or (especially) eliminating the ego…

12 Easy Ways To Become More Conscious
CPP'd on December 28th, 2007Each day, more people are awakening to the realization that we are connected at a much deeper level—to each other, to the planet, and to the universe at large. Consciousness is blossoming, and I truly believe we are living in a time where humanity will awaken to a new reality that is marked by peace, sustainability, social justice and love.
But we are not there yet, and most human beings still feel completely isolated and alone (a phenomenon that has been referred to as “the human dilemma” throughout history, among other things). Conscious living is not the norm…yet.
There are volumes and volumes written about the illusion the human mind perpetuates; the greatest thinkers in human history—Jesus, Buddha, Emerson, Descartes, Gandhi and countless others—explored the implications of the mind and theorized about a time of conscious enlightenment.
Although many people are becoming intellectually aware of what “consciousness” refers to, they have not yet made the leap to integrating this type of awareness into their own lives. The thing about consciousness is this: it has to be personally experienced for it to permeate an individual’s life, and there has to be a critical mass of people experiencing it to generate a cultural tipping point.
In my opinion, there is nothing more important than this pursuit– it can be the very thing that saves humanity and planet earth! With that said here are 12 excellent practices for starting yourself down a path of increased awareness and heightened consciousness:

Sparking a Paradigm Shift For Humanity
CPP'd on December 20th, 2007Whether you choose to be aware of it or not, we are living in an extremely unique time in human history. Many of the fundamental “systems” we take for granted are proving to be unsustainable, and there is a burgeoning movement of environmentalists, spiritualists, writers, speakers, activists, humanitarians and even bloggers who are at the forefront of bringing mass attention to the “un”sustainability of our deep-seated ways of doing things.
One of those people is Duane Elgin, creator and founder of Awakening Earth, who has agreed to share his thoughts on paradigm shift with the We The Change audience. For over thirty years Duane has been speaking and conducting workshops with business leaders, educators, students, and others about the extraordinary time of transition we are moving through as a human family, and we are happy to have him here today:

Google Analytics Predicts Where Human Consciousness is Going
CPP'd on December 13th, 2007The Google Analytics statistics for this blog have been playing a really interesting role in my recent ‘enlightenment’ process.
As most know, the popular Google tool has a feature that shows you what information (or keywords) readers around the world were searching for when they happened to run across your website in the search engine results.
So because this blog has been focusing more and more on spirituality lately (as my own understandings unfold), it is starting to draw in readers who are searching for similar information. What it ALSO does is give me a close, personal, inside look at ‘topics of interest’ that people like myself have been researching lately on the web.
And I can tell you this: the different keywords that have been showing up on my statistics lately really start to paint a clear picture that something.. SOMETHING is happening to our collective consciousness - much of which I myself have yet to understand.
Here are some examples of real keywords that people have been looking for:…

Decembers Question
CPP'd on December 8th, 2007The 11th Step mentions “knowledge of His will for us…” How does this “knowledge” come to you? Or do you seek it out?
The answer to this is twofold; simply put, it comes to us as a result of searching, studying, and practicing the spiritual principles of love. There is no great mystery here. No hidden path reserved only for the mystics or holy ones. Note that i stated the principles of love (plural), not the principle of love.
Throughout human history there have been many powerful spiritual teachers. When we study their teachings, we find common threads interwoven into the fabric of each. Like a circle they always come back to the universal truth of love. Examples of just a few are:
A Course in Miracles:
“Teach only love for that is what you are.”
The Dalai Lama:
1.“All major religious traditions carry basically the same message; that is love, compassion and forgiveness the important thing is they should be part of our daily lives.”
2.“The purpose of our lives is to be happy.”
The five precepts of Buddhism:
All religions have some basic rules that define what is good conduct and what kind of conduct should be avoided. In Buddhism, the most important rules are the Five Precepts. These have been passed down from the Buddha himself…

Strangely Helpful Talk with My ‘Inner Coach’
CPP'd on December 8th, 2007Just for kicks, I decided to ‘confront’ my mind by going to my Inner Coach.
What was strange about this is that I did not concoct this. It flowed out in one stream in a few minutes, and it landed right on the reminder that I needed!
I did add one line… the part where my ‘Inner Coach’ says “Or is it ‘One Inspired Dude’? The opportunity was just sitting there for poking fun at myself.
Eric - You there?
Inner Coach - Always.
Eric - Yah, I know that’s what the self-help books tell me, but I still feel like I need to ask.
Inner Coach - Before you ask…
Eric - Yah, I know. Before I ask, you’ve answered. All the books say that.
Inner Coach - You sure have a ‘know it all’ attitude for someone coming to Me for advice, and that’s OK.
Eric - Well, I’m humble enough to ask!
Inner Coach - I’ll grant you that. So, how can I be of service to my self?
Eric - Um… that was a bit strange the way you worded that, but I guess it makes sense.
Inner Coach - I’m the I, eric. You’re the i. That’s what gets you in trouble…confusing this…
